Red staircases in old town Edinburgh
Once in a while, whilst walking the streets of old town Edinburgh, you stuble upon one of these magical sites. A colourful red staircase and a blue door amongst they greyish brown old buildings. Dont get me wrong, I dont just adore the greyish browns of Edinburgh, but the colours just bring a smile. And dont you just love the way people decorate their windowsills with flowers of the season? //Ann Dont forget to join us on Facebook andInstagram for daily updates and more images.

Walk with me – old town Edinburgh, part I
Okey, so the first two images are taken from the new town point of view, just as we arrived in in Edinburgh. The rest of them are taken in the old town areas. Thats kind of the aras I love the most. New town is not new. Its from the 18th century, it was constructed between 1767 and 1890, so I would say its quite old. But that part of town is more commersial estates, so if you’re into shopping thats where you’re suppose to go. Theres other stuff to do aswell, I know that, I just like the other side of the bridge more. The medieval old town was…

Gin tasting at The Wild Yarrow Bar & Bistro
The last time we visited Edinburgh we went on a whiskey tour, so this time it was a Gin tasting that was on our menu. Our good friend Seb that lives in Edinburgh helped us to set up a Gin-date with the The Wild Yarrow Bar & Bistro. You all know I’m a sucker for a good Gin and tonic, but this was not just a GT… This was Gin served with a history lesson and a twist of charm, brought to you with a special selection of tonics and a smile. The owner of the bistro and our tourguide for the day through the history of Gin, was totally…

Breakfast at Deacon House
I have said it before, several times, that I am a morningperson. I am not a peopleperson in the mornings, but I love the morning. Especially when we are travelling, when you get to walk around and explore the city before its awake. Thats what we were doing when we found Deacon’s House Cafe Brodie’s Close. Beautiful right? The cafe is not just a stunning place to visit, its also the inspiration to the novel The strange case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr Hyde, pretty cool! //Ann

The dream of Edinburgh
I so wanted to show Angelica and the rest of our friends and family around Edinburgh, the city that I have learned to know and love. But as you might know by now, from our previous posts, Edinburgh became but a dream due to the SAS strike. Bummer one might say, but it’s like I’m mourning the loss of a dear friend. But as soon as possible, I want to rebook the trip and maybe even stay a bit longer, just to compensate. When the dream of Edinburgh became but a dream. Angelica and the Scott Monument. //Ann

Our flight is cancelled
It is official, our flight has now been cancelled due to the strike within SAS airlines. I’m not happy about it but I’m glad they cancelled our flight with in 24 hours before departure, atleast thats ahead of time, we didnt have to find out at the airport. This means that I get to stop doing the final laundry and stop packing my bag. For now. //Ann #flightcancelled #sas #travelblog

The strike continues
Yes, the strike continues and today there’s about 550 departures cancelled. They have reinstated flights between Tokyo, Hongkong and Copenhagen, but theres no sign what so ever of the parties comming to an agreement. So far, it says that our flight tomorrow is on time, but for those of you who has read my previous post about the strike, you know thats not for sure. All other flights to Edinburgh has been cancelled, so its not really looking up. The odds are not in our favor. I’ve been reading up on what to do if our flight is cancelled, how much of the trip you’ll get refunded but I’m guessing…

Raincheck?
Lets take a raincheck… det betyder på svenska att man skjuter upp något eller att man har det innestående. So is that what we’re gonna have to do with our trip to Edinburgh? Its hard not to loose faith, but I’m trying to keep my chin up and my fingers crossed that the strike will be over soon. The big problem is that they dont even seem to be trying to negotiate with each other, they’re just throwing blameballs and accusations. Work it kids, mama’s got a plane to catch! I keep updating their website to see the latest news and updates. When it cocmes to the flight departyring to…
