Advent wishlist, part 4
Turkey. I’ve been there several times, in Alanya, Side and Özdere. But its such a beautiful country, and I would really love to see more. United kingdom. I think Im just beginning to see the beauty of the UK, I would have loved to do a roadtrip or taken a trainride through the countyside. Monastery of Filerimos
The Monastery of Filerimos is located on a hill above Ialyssos, about 10 km from Rhodes Town, so it’s a bit off. We did the classic touristy thing and took a taxi, whom later picked us up again a few hours later. So the monastery was built in the 15th century by the Knights of Saint John, yes I do visit a lot of places regaring the Knights of Saint John, or Knights Hospitallers as they are also called. The Knights had conquered the island that time. Inside, there was the holy icon of the Virgin Mary that the Knights had probably brought to Rhodes from Jerusalem. But the icon…

The greek food
Who doesnt like the greek food, right? That’s only one of the many reasons I’ve gone back to Greece, I’ve actually been to quite a few of the islands but also on the mainland. I simply love Greek food, the lamb, the seasoning, tzatziki and all of the different small fingerfoods that are always served as appetizers. But my absolut favorite is lamb kleftiko. It’s a rustic, traditional Greek recipe made with slow cooked lamb, first marinated in garlic, olive oil, feta cheese and lemon juice.Have you ever tried it? //Ann

Old town rhodes
We’ve all been to Greece, right?One of the most amazingly beautiful places I have been to in Greece is the Island of Rhodes, and more specificly the old town in Rhodes. One of the reasons that I enjoyed the town is that it got some medieval history, The knights hospitallers captured and established their headquarters on Rhodes when they left Cyprus, after the persecution of the knight in Cyprus. The pope confirmed the Hospitallers possession of the Island in 1309m, where they remained for the next two centuries. So why the Knights Hospitallers?
